Bordeaux, Bordeaux, Bordeaux, Bordeaux…

Gilbert loves serving Bordeaux!

While in Paris, the Gal Pals took to sitting at cafés for an inviting glass of the local nectar of the Gods, otherwise known as Bordeaux (French waiters pronounce it Buhd – O).  When each waiter looked to us to place our order we instinctively chimed in with Bordeaux, s’il vous plaît.  A pattern emerged that made us laugh.  The waiter repeated our orders for clarity pointing to us one at time saying Buhd-O, Buhd-O, Buhd-O, Buhd-O.  It was difficult to refrain from bursting out with the giggles listening to it and now we can’t say Bordeaux without a French accent.  Some waiters were on to us and played along (like Gilbert from Café de Flore), and some just moved on seemingly unaware we were about to bust a gut.

Merci for the French lesson. I’ll remember this next time in Paris. Gilbert is totally cute.

Gilbert’s personality is very warm and friendly – they’ll probably promote him to “inside” the house – happens to all the good ones, but next time you are there make sure you tell him Allo from us!
