Bordeaux at Lunch

by Weekend In Paris

Nothing fancy, a house Bordeaux at lunch is very Parisien indeed

Bordeaux at lunch, turns out, is a very good idea!

Ordinarily I do NOT drink at lunch on any day even on vacation, but somehow it just feels like the right thing to do in Paris.  Go ahead, look around you and you will see that the locals find it very necessary to imbibe at noon.

Far be it from me to mess with French tradition and besides, we are trying to blend in so no one notices we are foreigners so we can observe them from close range.  It’s like watching Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins. We get to see fashion forward Parisians in their natural habitat strolling past dressed in their latest conquests – chic shoes, handbags, coats, leggings, skirts, scarves, and suits.   This is research people!  We must know what to look out for while on our shopping safari.  We are like baby lions, watching our elders as they display their prized kill, wanting to copy their every move.

Yes, now we were armed with the information we needed to set out on our own shopping adventure, fortified with a hot French meal and liquid courage courtesy of Bordeaux at lunch.

Location:  Café de Flore
Bordeaux: 2006 Chateau Haut-Logat from Haut-Médoc

You are gutsy gals, having a Bordeaux for lunch! Next time you go to your bottle store go and buy a Vacqueyras from the Cote du Rhone, and try that for a change – it’s even a gutsier name than your Bordooooh!
