While traveling I take time out to light candles in memory of loved ones, in honor of those who are suffering and need prayers. This trip was no exception. After trekking up the steep, narrow and dark walkways of the village of Èze near Monte Carlo, we stumbled upon an empty but well-lit Notre Dame de l’Assomption church built in 1764 close to the top. It was a bitter cold evening and the church offered little warmth, heating wise, but great warmth spiritually wise. It was the perfect place to take time to reflect upon those who needed prayers and light candles so the light from them would be seen from heaven…
