Crepe en L’Isle

Crêpe en l’Isle

by Weekend In Paris

When presented with the bill at a famous café for a cup of coffee, I laughed to my friend that I thought I was buying one cup of coffee, not all of Columbia! No joke, the prices for every day staples have skyrocketed out of control in the City of Lights so I’m happy to report that hidden around Paris are cheap eats that will help offset the outrageously expensive ones.

Sunday afternoons are typically when I take the Gal Pals for a stroll on islands Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis. British Gal Pal Lisa always says, “Shall we just take a little poodle around?” which means let’s stroll and shop. It was quite cold by Paris standards and our feet were killing us. We were all famished but I must admit I was dangerously close to reaching my hypoglycemic low “witchy point” which is SO not allowed on this trip. When I am sugar low my ability to focus and direct others towards a good choice goes out the window. The Gals were now wandering aimlessly because I was not leading them towards a solution for a late lunch. My fault completely! Luckily we stumbled upon Crêpe en l’Isle, a small but cheery café on Ile Saint Louis. It had a typical selection of fillings for our crêpes, but the smells coming from the kitchen were uncommonly wonderful. We were packed in like sardines, but we didn’t care because we were warm; we were served hot delicious crêpes by super cool and friendly wait staff and the sugar beast was put away permanently.

Le Pièce de résistance? The price! Our filling yummy crêpes plus coffee/tea/hot chocolate cost the four of us under €30 including tip. What a treat!
