Today was a hard day with le francais. I am weakening…why do I need to know past tense and future tense? Next week I am going to France. When I am there it will be present tense right? The French won’t care what I will be doing the following week since I will be back here in the United States. Can’t I just stick to the present tense and forget the rest?
This is pretty early in the game to give up right? I will attempt to tell you in French what I did today. Not everything – I did dishes, grocery shopped, walked the dog, called the boys at school (no one picked up – ahem), organized some bills, wrote some correspondence, and cooked a nutritious delicious dinner. Do I know how to say any of that – not really, but I think I know how to say the following:
J’ai joué au tennis avec mes amies. J’ai bu un café avec un homme qui travaille à mon université. J’ai essayé le francais plus mal.
French speakers – feel free to correct my little essay above on this blog. I can take it!
Je suis fatigue!
Bon nuit!

You are so funny. I am working an le futur with my tutor next week. I am the same as you — as long as everything is happening now, I am good to go.
Je suis très confusé. (I know that is incorrect, but it makes me laugh) I am struggling with the difference between the passé composé (avec avoir) and the imparfait (avec ait, ais etc).
But I still love it all.
I cannot wait to read about your trip.
Personally I take the language a bit further, how about French without verbs at all which eliminates any tense requirements? Instead of saying, “May I have a glass of wine, please,” I recommend requesting “A glass of wine, please.” I could read your French perfectly. You’re good to go.

Pas si mal ton Français. Courage, c’est un très bon début! Ne sois pas trop fatiguée… la semaine prochaine tu es à Paris!
