Gal Pals Forever or Family Feuding Females Hit Paris Monday

This summer I have two new guest Gal Pals and one veteran making the trip to Paris. They all hail from the northeast and one of them has never been to Paris before – can you say Bucket List?! And, guess what? We’re all related so that means we will become even closer as family or it’s going to be a long plane ride back and the next family reunion will be Hatfield/McCoy style…just sayin’.

Mary Ann

Mom, Saint Mary Ann, or Grammie as my kids call her is my mother-in-law and a guest Gal Pal. Why a saint? You haven’t met her husband, Papa Phil yet. Just think of him as the Frank Barrone (from Everyone Loves Raymond) of the family. He adores Mary Ann, makes us laugh and generally just likes to know where his next meal is coming from. Sorry Frank, you will have to pop in a few of those frozen Nutrisystem tube steaks into the microwave because Mary Ann is with me eating chocolate éclairs and coq au vin for the week. Mary Ann is a mother to six of her own children and has adopted the rest of us “outlaws” as her own. That’s why we call her Mom and saint! She is a seasoned Paris-goer, but this will be her first time spreading her wings and hanging with the girls. She vows she is ready for our pace and has been training on the treadmill Rocky-style so she’s ready to take on Montmartre.

Kate is Mr. Weekend In Paris’ sister and a reluctant flyer. Lucky for her we are flying first class so by the time she sips some champagne, dons the famous blue slipper socks from her amenity kit and finishes her three course meal she will forget all about her fear of flying and concentrate on enjoying her much deserved “me time” away. This will be Kate’s first time to Paris and I can’t wait to see the city anew through her eyes. Kate will be on the lookout for clothes for her daughter Lucy (my incredibly sweet and fun niece) who is an emerging teenager. She is super adorable but shy and you will all fall in love with her when you see her on film. Her favorite holiday is Christmas; I am sure we will find a souvenir Christmas ornament for her to hang on the tree this year.

Andrea, established Gal Pal since the 2011 trip is, as you may recall, is Mr. Weekend In Paris’ sister too. I feel pretty good that she is making the trip again. It means she enjoyed it the first time around and wants more! Paris was made for Andy – she could be a runway model with her tall, lean body so the clothes all fit her perfectly. My worry for her is that she tends to not buy much for herself, but rather for her three daughters back home. I love my nieces dearly (Erin is my favorite goddaughter – she’s my only goddaughter, Claire is my husband’s favorite goddaughter – his only goddaughter and Megan was our first niece and therefore our favorite first niece) but this trip is about the two generations hanging out and shopping for themselves for a change. Nah, who am I kidding…we’ll be shopping for you awesome nieces like crazy don’t you worry!

So batten down the hatches Paris because the Pilon women are coming to town…
