Every season provides beautiful topography, but it is at its finest during the summer months when the exotic flowers are in full bloom and the enormous hedges provide dramatic cover for a romantic rendez-vous.

DSC_0968It would be hard to find a better place to begin our gal's trip to the Loire region than visiting France's Chambord Castle, the best in France. Feeling regal, we checked into the Grand Hotel du Lion d'Or a Relais & Chateaux property where we were treated like queens.

No matter if you are in town for business and crave a much-needed signature cocktail on the terrace in the cool and hip Galerie Joy bar, or if you are playing tourist and dream of an award-winning macaroon in a slice of French heaven at restaurant Le Diane, you will be well taken care of and feel special.

Keep a copy of your passport separate in case you lose it and need documentation. Be aware of pick-pockets all over the city. Do not keep wallets in back pockets or in purses that don't have zippers. Do not flash wads of cash in public.
